[Manager, Therapeutic Area Communications]

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic communications for a major therapeutic business unit, supporting the business head and senior leadership.

  • Develop and execute end-to-end communication plans to increase disease awareness and improve patient access.

  • Drive campaigns that highlight innovation in key therapeutic areas, targeting healthcare professionals and stakeholders.

  • Strengthen reputation of the business unit through external engagement and media relations.

  • Build partnerships with patient groups, influencers, and third-party advocates.

  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with internal teams to amplify messaging and align on communication strategies.

  • Measure performance using KPIs and insight-driven tools.

  • Manage agencies and budgets to deliver high-impact communication initiatives.

  • Embed compliance across all communication activities.

  • Support internal engagement and change management aligned with company culture and transformation efforts.

  • Provide strategic counsel to senior executives and contribute to leadership team discussions on reputation and positioning.

  • Lead response during sensitive issues or crises by advising leadership and coordinating messaging.

  • Collaborate across geographies and functions within a global communication network.

  • Contribute to capability-building and best-practice sharing within regional and global teams.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum, advanced degree preferred.

  • 8–10 years of experience in strategic communications within corporate, healthcare, or policy environments.

  • Bilingual fluency required: exceptional Japanese communication skills and strong English proficiency.

  • Track record in media relations, patient advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across functions and geographies.

  • Experience in agency management and budget oversight.

  • Proven change management and project leadership within complex, matrixed organizations.
